Minister of Music

About the Music Minister

Robert James Yauger was born in 1971 and is a native of Dalton, Georgia. Some of his earliest memories were of sitting in the living room floor as a child and listening to his uncle playing acoustic guitar and singing songs of the day.  This and his father's interest in many musical genres helped to begin a love for music in his own life.
Starting in the sixth grade and continuing into high school he played the trumpet for the school band.  At age fourteen he began playing guitar when he and three friends formed a punk/metal band that performed throughout high school and beyond.  In 1991 he was born again and his musical interest changed. He began playing guitar at church and in various contemporary Christian groups. In 1996, he began singing regularly when he was asked to lead praise and worship for the youth group's services at Calvary Assembly of God (Dalton, GA).  He became primary worship leader in 2000. Other types of ministries he has worked with in this field include jail and nursing home. He has held the position of Music Minister at Christian Fellowship Assembly since 2002.  Being a Christian songwriter, he is allowed the opportunity to use some of his original material in the song services. Robert still enjoys performing solo at certain venues.
Today he attends with Renee, his wife of thirteen years, and daughters Katelyn and Melody.  His interests other than music are reading and biking. He believes it is a great honor to lead the congregation in worship and is grateful for the liberty given to him to be creative. It is also a great privilege for him to get to work with so many talented and devoted people on the worship teams.

What to Expect at CFA

The worship service is considered to be one of the most important activities of the Church.  It is a time when believers get to come together, join their voices, and publicly proclaim their faith in and commitment to God in Christ, and declare his glory. With hearts open, it can also be a time of refreshing and encouragement for the worshiper.  Following is what you may expect when attending one of our services.
At CFA, we have been blessed with many gifted singers and musicians.  More importantly, they have a heart to worship our Lord.  Our musical style is mostly contemporary with some traditional pieces as well.  Many voices and instruments are used in these areas.  Much care is taken in song selections so that the lyrics are appropriate, honoring, and true to scripture.  We also have the opportunity to utilize many talented soloists who minister in various styles of music. In addition, we regularly incorporate interpretive dance into the worship service by our dance team. Using these methods we try to encourage the heartfelt expression of our devotion to God by identifying with worshipers audibly and visually.
